As year 2017 is drawing to a close, and for sure, your agenda is full of feasts, family gatherings and wonderful presents, we think it is the right time to take a short break and wish you a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year from all the RDC staff. Let us seize this post to look back over the most important milestones of the year and look forward to what it is yet to come in 2018. Don’t forget to subscribe to our blog !!
RDC began 2017 with only two employees; with the H2020-SME Instrument SELMUS Project to develop a new mussel culture floating system launched just a month ago; with the goal of starting a specialised UHPC consulting business; and with the commitment to create a new UHPC precasting factory. We wanted to set up two companies ! Too much work for only two people.
Throughout the year, RDC has grown at a steady pace to 7 people specialised in building and civil construction management projects, precast concrete technology, advanced concretes, research and development, sales and marketing. RDC has also its own laboratory to take over the tasks of quality control, research and development. What do we offer now to the market?
- Advanced concretes consulting, specially in UHPC
- Development of innovative products made of advanced concretes
- Civil and building structures projects, specially precast structures made of any concrete type
Don’t forget that the European Project ReSHEALience, in which RDC is involved together with 13 other companies from all over Europe, begins in 2018 with the main objective of increasing service life of structures by at least 30% and decreasing maintenance costs by at least 50%. You can find more information in this post and also in the Project website.
With this project and a few others, RDC continues in the front line of advanced concretes technology to (i) develop new competitive and sustainable products and (ii) offer the more recently developed concrete technologies to their clients.
One of the most interesting projects in which RDC was involved in 2017 (I’m aware it still lacks a proper room in this blog) is the structural design and in situ manufacturing of two spiral staircases in Denia, developed together with Navarro & Vallés arquitects. We leave a full description of them for next year 😊
In following posts …

Four Formex rafts have been launched in Spain during 2017, and we expect a lot more for 2018. You can find more information about the two first rafts launched in these two posts: “H2020 | SME Instrument. SELMUS Project” and “La nueva batea Formex para el cultivo de ostras”. We leave the fully description of the third and the fourth for 2018.
Here is a taste of the Formex Plus raft, made only of UHPC and totally flat, providing greater confort and safety. Its current state is broadcast live in this link. Are you curious about that? 😉

In 2018 we will keep you informed about RDC growth, European Projects, evolution of concrete technology, … and we will continue learning about UHPC, its tensile behaviour, classification, design, … Don’t miss a thing !!
- See you next year and thanks for the support !! 😊
