Interesting newsletters about advanced concretes

Today I would like to introduce the Newsletters of the European Projects (H2020) where we are involved. As I mentioned in previous posts, RDC is a company that has developed a distinctive strength thanks to continuous and close-to-market innovation. To do it in a health way and with good character, we decided to do it as a balanced person organizes its life: Enjoying both the time alone and the social relations. Thus, part of our R&D is internal, and the other part is in cooperation with other partners. Today’s blog talks about the latter.

Good morning!

RDC approaches the innovation in cooperation with other partners mainly through projects funded by the European Commission. The reason is that in this environment most of the stakeholders are open and dynamic, and the funding rates allow us to explore technologies and prototypes that a small company cannot fund easily.

Today I would like to introduce the Newsletters of the European Projects (H2020) in which we are involved. They can be divided in those where we are beneficiaries (Project ReSHEALience and project SMARTINCS) or those that have cooperated with us to organize events or meetings (ENDURCRETE and LORCENIS). All of them are part of RDC’s ecosystem.

The goal of the Newsletters of these projects, all of them pubic and free, is to let the audience have access to articles, advances, milestones reached, description of the beneficiaries or events that are organized. This open communication policy is based in the idea that the global learning of all the stakeholders (including society) is wider when the knowledge is disclosed and there is a “clustering” attitude. The European Commission strongly supports these synergies promoting the ideas of Open Innovation, Open Data, Open Access, etc.

The Newsletters that are mentioned as follows are an example of this attitude, and we believe it can be useful that you subscribe to them. In my experience as a reader, I can say that in some of them I found inspiring ideas and relevant results from the most recent researches. This clearly helps to be updated in one of most technological niches of the construction sector. Four of the Newsletters that we recommend are:

1) ReSHEALience: This is an H2020 RIA project that we already mentioned in the past. It started in 2018 with the main objective of being more accurate estimating the lifespan of concrete structures under aggressive environments, and researching to increase it with advanced concretes. Besides of other relevant tasks, RDC is in this project the leader of the Communication and Dissemination package.
ReSHEALience Newsletter is receiving excellent reviews of the readers having a good response among the reader because it contains not only a summary of the activities, but it goes beyond publishing articles that we consider relevant for the concrete world. In the last number and those that will come, you will already find images of the finished prototypes, as the precast Formex® raft produced by PREFFOR where the durability of beams produced with different advanced concretes is being measured, as the safety technologies under development in the last project awarded to RDC, the OpenMode, funded by the European Maritime and Fishery fund.

2) SMARTINCS is a Marie Curie action funded by the European Commission, where 15 young researchers are coordinated to research in the field of self-healing concretes. In the case of RDC, the company hosts a student that is developing methodologies to design structures with these advanced materials.
The Smartincs Newsletter is fresh and oriented to young researchers. In fact, part of the document is written by them, which are also managing the social networks. As the project started in 2019, up to now only two numbers have been published. You can find them and subscribe in the following link.

3) ENDURCRETE: This is one of the projects which has cooperated more with ReSHEALience, as both of us are part of the nanomaterials cluster named AMANAC. Having some common topics, ENDUCRETE and ReSHEALience have organized several dissemination events and shared relevant public results. The next event organized in common is on October 7th, 2020, and it will consist of an online seminar oriented to green and durable structures. Soon we will publish the agenda of the event and how to register. You can subscribe to ENDURCRETE newsletter clicking here.

4) LORCENIS: This Project finished few months ago and it has a set of seven Newsletters that show the advances of the consortium in the field of LOng Lasting Reinforced Concrete for ENergy Infrastructure under Severe Operating Conditions (LORCENIS).  It is very interesting to open them in order to appreciate the progress of the advances during the project. The link to the Newsletter can be found clicking here.

Finally, to conclude, I would like to say that, as responsible of the publication of the ReSHEALience Newsletter, it is very motivating to receive questions or contributions from the readers. For this reason, we invite you to contact us and to send the subscription form to your friends! ????
